Playing Football in School – My story of a short career.

We are seeing a surge in the football culture in our country. Not a long time ago you would find it difficult to find people, other than a select few, who genuinely knew every nook and corner of the football world. My love for football is not only restricted to watching and reading about it but also to the extent of playing it day in day out till my legs gave up. Living in two of the metropolitans of our country, New Delhi and Hyderabad, I got quite few opportunities to play football at a better level than just kicking the ball around. Djokovic in Monte Carlo 2015

So, the first masters event leading up to the French Open concluded with Novak Djokovic triumphant in reclaiming the Monte Carlo crown that he lost last year to Stanislas Wawrinka after what was a near perfect week for the world number one. Red Carpet in Rio’16: Rugby Returns

The last game of Rugby at the Olympics was in 1924 and saw USA beat the hosts France by a score of 17-3 and that 1924 France vs USA rugby matchlead to a pitch invasion by the french fans. The french team aided by the police somehow protected the USA national team from the eyre of the French fans and that marred the end of the association of the Rugby Union with the olympics as the olympic committee looked for more individual sports to be included, till 2016 when we will see the sport back on the greatest stage. read more

History and Evolution of Football

Football is the most popular sport in the European continent and parts of America, oh scratch that, football is the most popular sport in the world, no wait it is a religion.

EpiskyrosIts origin dates back to Han dynasty in 3rd century BC where leather balls were filled with feathers and kicked around. In Greece, a sport called “Episkyros” was played in which there were no rules as such besides the rule of kicking the ball into a net (they took the saying that there is just one rule very seriously.) The game had no particular size of field or number of players at that time so yeah there have been times when team had entire clans as their on field squad, wasn’t very different from war in those times. read more
