We see Reebok adverts about CrossFit, we hear a few people strongly promoting it, the ones indulging in it don’t seem to stop praising it. So we ask ourselves, what exactly is CrossFit?

What is CrossFit?
A training program that builds strength and conditioning through extremely varied and challenging workouts. Each day the workout will test a different part of your functional strength or conditioning, not specializing in one particular thing, but rather with the goal of building a body that’s capable of practically anything and everything.
How does it work?
Now, in a commercial gym, we have different exercises for different people. A heart patient will use machine ‘x’ and ‘y’, whereas an athlete will use machine ‘A’ all the way through ‘Z’. You wont even find your mesmerizing elliptical and stair master at the CrossFit centres. In CrossFit, the same routing is used for everybody, be it a boy aged 14, at the realm of body building or a well toned athlete and even an elderly woman, the one young women are oft inspired by. The only difference being – the weights, loads, reps and intensity. In short, there’s ONE workout each day that is completely scalable based on your skill and fitness level.
Who should indulge in CrossFit?
- Beginners – Never don’t weight training before? Scared that you’ll look weak if you cant do more than those 20 pushups in a go? CrossFit is surely the best possible thing. In this training regime, all are tested in the beginning and intensity levels are set accordingly. What most people realize is that they actually like working out once you get rid of the notions of being judged or embarrassed!
- People without support – what I mean is, that if you get yourself to go to the gym for a few days and stop cause you have no motivation or company, CrossFit is ideal, because for some reason, the people partaking in crossFit blend and make themselves a community. Who support each other, motivate each other and challenge each other.
- Fitness fanatics –We all have that one friend that NEEDS to go to gym or workout, maybe even twice a day. That one friend who always likes to push himself to the limit. If you have that one friend or if YOU happen to be that friend, CrossFit is perfect for you. The way CrossFit is structured, you are working out with regular consistency. The general protocol is 3 days on, 1 day off. Once you’re roped in, the feeling of oneness, motivation and excitement will have you hating that day off instead of cherishing it.
