Sports at Playnlive

It is said that Sachin’s wife Anjali hardly even moves about when he is in his crease; so is India where ‘sport’ is perceived as one and one only: cricket. But the kind of unity that the sport and the icon have brought is unparalleled. On retrospection, one understands that the lack of facilities and the lack of awareness about the facilities in the past had made other games a matter of luxury to the select few. As the country’s young population evolves, so does its perception at many levels. So what does one need when one badly wants to play one’s favourite sport in a city: a direction which is more than ably provided by playnlive.com. Founded by two young entrepreneurs with a very good educational background and a great passion for sports and guided by a veteran in management, the organisation blends agility and experience just like badminton. When asked about what made her win so big in the international arena, Saina Nehwal explains that it is her arm power, which is rare among women. One could hardly miss subconsciously remembering her coach Pulela Gopichand who is an Arjuna Awardee as well as the recipient of the Dronacharya Award. The striking similarity of the same with playnlive.com is more than just a coincidence. Badminton, like any other sport, teaches you more than just to win. The pain during training to stretch you literally and otherwise, the endurance and the sustained hunger to win but fight fair teaches more than just the sport. When Prakash Padukone and Pulela Gopichand won the All England Championships, it was a pride for the country. So was it when Saina Nehwal won the bronze for India in the London Olympics. Looking for a place to play Badminton in a place like Delhi, you look up the net and find playnlive.com offer you that quantum of solace giving you an insight into the number of places. Gone are the days when you thought work-life balance in a big city might take a hit. Welcome healthier living hand in hand with playnlive.com. read more

Sania Mirza: Cutting across divides

In a country where cricketers dominate headlines, women from outside Bollywood struggle to make it to fame, a girl from Hyderabad shot to limelight and changed the perception of how her sport and women athletes are viewed in general. Sania Mirza, the phenomenon, rumbled on to headlines with her great tennis and her charming personality. Before Mirza, tennis was a minor sport in India. Sure, Vijay Amirtraj’s success, the dynamic duo of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupati were popular. But Mirza was different, Mirza was box office. read more

Incredible India!- Actually?

Aaaand it’s a six! , Yes it’s a goal!!, Oh no! We missed a basket. The most familiar one is? But obvious the first one, because we are in India. A nation known for its pluralistic, multilingual and a multi ethnic society is home for 1.2 billion people making it the world’s second most populous country. It’s also the origin for games like chess, snooker and other regional games. In spite of all these exceptional qualities of India we still lack in many things mainly sports. Why? Don’t we have good players? Don’t we have good sporting amenities? Doesn’t the government have enough funds? The answer to all these questions is simple. Government, sports federations, media are so much in love with cricket that they fail to understand or comprehend the existence of other games in our country. read more

The Influence of Music on International Sports

How does it feel when a man plays the same music over and over again, if they get a good hit or a shot and they supervise on playing it for the rest of their lives just because it works for them and the opposite happens if it doesn’t work out at all. A sport is absolutely necessary for every human being to stay fit but in today’s scenario everything has become so commercial that people have actually forgotten the ethics and basic spirit of any sport thereby scaring and killing the strength behind it. read more

Things a person should know before making sports a career

Choosing a career in sport could be tough. Studies too are not easy. In order to become a sportsperson, one must take the decision of playing a particular sport. Thus persons who want to further their career in sports need the inner edge, discipline and training to succeed. The best way to develop sport as a career is to find an activity of interest and start to pursue excellence in that area. read more

Working out – Redefined!

Since childhood I was involved in various sports; traditional sports like cricket, football as well as non- traditional sports like badminton, skating and kho-kho. I always wanted to come across as the fittest amongst my friends. I represented my school in almost all of these sports at various events across schools. Back then all this meant nothing more than fun.
During my later years academics occupied a lot of my time but sports was always in the frame. I was involved in one or the other physical activity but the prime focus was to relieve stress and get my mind off books. I have played some sports for over two decade now and my love for them has not fluctuated in all these years.  What I didn’t know is that all this is some or the other type of workout. read more
